How to Properly Measure for Your New Door Plate
The recommended kickplate measurement is equal to the width of the door, less two inches. In other words, if your door is 36 inches wide, you would need to install a 34-inch-wide door kick plates for proper sizing.
The standard available sizes of our door kick plates are as follows:
6 in x 30 in – fits most standard sized interior doors
8 in x 34 in – fits most standard sized exterior doors
If your needs fall outside of the average, no need to worry! Deck the Door Decor offers many size options, including custom size options, all hand cut in our shop – one of the many reasons our family run business stands out from the rest.
Be sure you get the best fit by following our easy measurement guidelines.

How to Measure For Door Kick Plates
1. Make sure your door is open to get a full measurement from end to end without obstruction.
2. Using a standard tape measurer, measure the width of your door. Subtract 2 from your total length and you will have your width measurement. (A 36” door will need a 34” wide kick plate). This ensures the kick plates does not interfere with any door stops, frame, or weather stripping that surrounds the door.
3. To find the height, measure from the bottom of your door up to any impeding edges (ex. decorative molding or panel). Leave allowance at the bottom of the door, so the kick plate does not come into contact with the threshold seal. Kick plate height is based on personal preference and door style.

Color matching screws can be found in a small plastic bag enclosed in your shipping box.
1. Determine your desired location for installation; assure the plate is level and centered. (tip: you can use painters’ tape to hold the plate to the door)
2. For metal doors, mark the predrilled holes with a pencil or marker. Predrill holes for the screws using a 3/32” drill bit.
For wood doors, the included self-tapping screws will install directly with no need for pilot holes.
3. Use a screwdriver or screw gun to fasten the door plate with the color matching screws included in your package. Be careful not to strip the screw threads, use gentle pressure.

Adhesive Mount
Mounting with 3M adhesive is a great option for a semi-permanent (permanent, yet removable) installation. It is important to have the plate properly aligned and level the first time you attach the kick plate (mark the corners). Please note the temperature of the door and plate should be consistently at 45-80 degrees F for proper adhesion bonding.
1. Clean door surface with a mild soap and water; allow to dry completely.
Note: *If you have recently refinished your door, please allow 48-72 hours for paint to cure before installing your door kick plate.
2. Remove the paper liner from the adhesive on the back of the plate.
3. Line up the plate and press firmly, applying even pressure to the surface of the plate, for 30 seconds.

Magnetic Mount
A magnet mount option is a perfect, fixed but non-permanent, option for a steel door. Not sure your door is steel? Use a refrigerator magnet to check! Not all metal doors are ferrous steel.
1. Simply line up your kick plate and stick it to your door.
